For as long as I can remember, I’ve been talking to myself when I’m alone. It mostly happens inside my head but if I get really lost into whatever I am thinking about, a whisper or two might escape. This is not uncommon as most people I’ve talked to about this end up confessing that they do the same. However, something that I have found is that the majority of people do something differently. When most people address themselves or their subconscious they do so in a familiar way, by their first name or simply "you". My "you" has always been plural and my subconscious or in this case "they" has always felt like it’s more than one person. It's not like they answer back or anything, but through its sheer presence it allows me to arrive at my own conclusions. My own personal crowd with no faces, no names, no identity of any kind, just a collective entity that keeps me in check whenever my emotions are too loud.
